Join us  for pretty lettering! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, you’ll be introduced to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink in this workshop. We will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail, wedding paper goods, home decor, and more! The perfect crafty night out!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper, and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Feel free to come early, grab your seat and browse the shop. An assortment of wines will be available to sample and sip. Snacks will be available to purchase throughout class too (meat, cheese, crackers, tinned fish, and chocolate)! Class will start promptly at 5:00PM

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics, and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

DIY Wine Passport with Emily Taillefer

Join Emily Taillefer, artist and owner of Papered Fragments, for a happy-hour workshop at Dunn & Sons where you will learn the basics of bookbinding in a fun, easy way. At the end, you will take home your own, handmade wine passport to house tasting notes, document favorite wines in, or gift to a loved one. Enjoy the inviting atmosphere of Dunn & Sons while creating, and taste some of their thoughtfully selected wines too!

In this workshop, you will create a simple signature of pages from a selection of hand-dyed papers and hand stitch them into a burlap paper cover. No sewing experience needed. Papers have been hand-dyed by Emily herself in coffee and (you guessed it) wine! Each wine passport also includes two small pockets in the front and back covers to store business cards and little notes. A customized stamped title on the front complete with a wine-stained cork will make your wine passport especially unique.

All materials are provided. Space is limited. Tickets are non-refundable.

Emily Taillefer, artist and owner of Papered Fragments, is a Canadian temporarily living on Cape Cod. Her specialty is creating handmade, one-of-a-kind journals from repurposed books. She has a love of vintage books and ephemera, and enjoys incorporating these elements into her journals along with other carefully curated papers and pages.

Botanical Pressing Workshop with Stephanie King

Join Cape Cod artist, educator and naturalist Stephanie King for an introductory level workshop into the world of designing collages with pressed and preserved seaweed and botanicals. Your nature art journey starts here. Stephanie will guide you through the fundamentals of ethical foraging of wild plants and marine algae. Seaweed and garden flowers are renewable resources that can be harvested responsibly. Together, we will experiment with locally sourced natural materials to create your own collages that can be used as journal entries, gift cards or simply framed. Collecting seaweed that has washed ashore is a lovely way to enjoy nature and create art with very little environmental impact. This art form is a wonderful way to preserve your garden and seaside memories alike.

The first portion of the workshop will involve an introduction and a demonstration. The second portion will involve getting your hands wet with real drift seaweed. The third portion will include using pressed and preserved botanicals and seaweed from Stephanie's collection to create your own nature art collage.

The cost of the workshop is $40. Includes all materials and instruction. Limited capacity: Attendance is capped at 12 participants.

TWO DINNERS AT THE PHEASANT - APRIL 12 & APRIL 13 @ 6PM

Join us in welcoming back our good friend, celebrated sommelier and California winemaker Patrick Cappiello to Cape Cod!

Last April Patrick joined us for two incredible sold out dinners and we can't wait to do it all again this year. These intimate, communal dinner will pair the food stylings of The Pheasant with the wines of winemaker Patrick Cappiello and his focus on heritage and classic California varietals through his label Monte Rio Cellars. Expect four courses, served family style at long communal tables from The Pheasant culinary team led by Chef Andrew Reilly alongside dual pairings of wines presented by Mr. Cappiello himself. Featured wines will also be available for purchase at the end of the evening courtesy of our sister-wineshop Dunn & Sons Wine in Yarmouth Port.

The evening will begin with a welcome toast at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. Each ticket includes the four-course dinner, wine pairings & gratuity.

Meet The Winemaker & Tasting: Jason Charles of Vinca Minor

MEET THE WINEMAKER & TASTING:
Jason Charles of Vince Minor, Berkley, California.

Jason Charles spent time after College working as a photographer in the US, Mexico, and Europe. He caught the wine bug waiting tables in New York City restaurants.

After experiences working in vineyards in Saint Emilion in Bordeaux and the Sonoma Coast, Jason started the Vinca Minor label to “explore the intersection between farmer, winemaker and artist.”

He believes in organic farming, and attempts to make the wines as naturally as possible, always working with indigenous yeast, never filtering or fining, and racking only once before bottling.

Join the Dunn & Sons team at The Pheasant for a night of storytelling and french country cooking in our 250 year farmhouse. If you love an esoteric French or Italian wine, chances are it was imported by Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, and on Saturday, March 2nd you’ll get a chance to sip some real icons. Every KL wine manages to walk the line between avant garde, minimal interventionist, and flaw free, you’re sure to fall in love with a bottle or two during the four-course family style menu. Learn the human stories behind these wines, with the guidance of Brittany Galbraith, KL Massachusetts representative and Dunn & Sons Somm, Kim Prokoshyn. Chef/Somm Derek Salkin will be pulling out the stops with wonderful seasonal winter dishes like oysters, mini croque monsieurs, Alsatian onion tart, chicken roulade with wild mushrooms, gnocchi parisienne and sauce vin jaune followed by a cheese course.

Grab a reservation for this family style french country side feast; dinner costs $125 per person, which includes gratuity. As always, wines from the dinner will be available to order and picked up at Dunn & Sons.

Our pal and vermouth pro Andrew Pierce will answer all of these questions and more in this one-hour deep dive into Spanish vermouth culture. Focusing primarily on the Basque region, Andrew will take you through a tasting different styles of vermouth, highlighting the history, complexity, and application of vermouth in a fun and educational environment.
